Nuwaraeliya is one of the most popular city located 170kms from Colombo in Sri Lanka. It is located in the hill country surrounded with mountains including the highest mountain peak piduruthalagala having a height of 2524m from mean sea level. Horton plain national park is the only national park where visitors are allowed to walk through the park. There is a 9km lengthy track for visitors to walk through an undulating highland plateau having an elevation over 2100m above mean sea level. The journey will be covering astounding variety of scenery from misty mountains to grasslands from marshes to ice cold streams, lakes and waterfalls. The park is home to many endemic mammals, birds and other animals.
